Website Notes

tat savitur varam rupam jyotih parasya dhimahi yannah satyena dipayet.

Let us meditate on the most auspicious (best) form of Savitri,
on the Light of the Supreme which shall illumine us with the Truth.

"We are glad to give you permission to create a website devoted exclusively to "Savitri". To post the text of Savitri on the website along with the Mother's writings on it as well as relevant material from some of the disciples."

Acknowledgments:
All quotations and photographs of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo are copyright of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust, Pondicherry, reproduced here with acknowledgments and appreciation. This website contains the complete text of Sri Aurobindo's epic poem, Savitri, along with Sri Aurobindo's brief bio-sketch, his Author's Note at the beginning of Savitri, and his extensive "Letters on Savitri", brief reviews and comments, Tributes to Sri Aurobindo, a Bibliography of books on Savitri, along with some of the invaluable comments of The Mother on Savitri. A "Note on the Text" compiled by the Ashram Archives Department gives us a detailed understanding of the many drafts and the time periods during which Sri Aurobindo wrote Savitri. We have also reproduced a copy of "Invocation" the publication of Savitri Bhavan, an oasis of tranquility devoted to the study of Savitri and open to all who are interested in its message. Links are also given to the various Sri Aurobindo Centers in the United States and Europe where further information on the Integral Yoga and the many writings of Sri Aurobindo, The Mother and their disciples are available.

The text is reproduced as it appears in the new, revised edition of 1993, with the same pagination, number of lines per page, etc. A numbered edition of Savitri, in which every 5th line is numbered to facilitate locating lines and passages for study, has been published by the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Publication Department in the latter part of 2000 and is now available.

If any errors are found on this website, I would be grateful for your calling them to my attention. I can be reached at the following email address: narad@alltel.net
